Following our social media call out for recommendations on mental health apps, we have been buzzing to test out the latest techniques.
This month we have taken the app Happy Feed. Happy Feed is a gratitude journal which encourages you to submit three things each day you are grateful for.
Why should you incorporate positive psychology into your life?
According to research, noting gratitude has a positive impact on low mood. The point of this app to target negative thinking. When we are in a negative thinking spiral, it is very easy to focus on the negative and to completely discount the positive. This results in a distorted view of the world and can intensify symptoms of anxiety or depression.
How to use it?
What we really liked about happy feed, is that it was incredibly easy to use. The layout and design are simple. Which we thought was great if you are struggling with depression, as sometimes motivation can be difficult. Happy Feed asks you to submit three, simple, gratitude entries, in a drop box.
What did we like about it?
We liked how it recorded personal journal entries, to allow you to recap and review them at the end of the day. This formulates a positive journal, to review further down the line.
We loved Happy Feed, it was easy, to the point and simple to incorporate into our day to day routine. We particularly loved how you can set reminders to prompt you to complete the journal, as we understand that when beginning a new behaviour, it can be easy to forget. We found a direct correlation with noting gratitude and a lift in mood.
