How I can help reduce employee absence

According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, the most common reason for absence in the workplace is stress-related. Stress-related absences account for up to 55% of short-term sick leave and 63% of long-term absences. Each week over one million workers take stress-related sick leave in the UK alone.

Although businesses have considerate policies and procedures to support their staff through difficult seasons, it can be exceedingly difficult for businesses to navigate when one or several members of their team are on stress-related sick leave. We can see a cycle beginning to form as pressure then forms on the remaining members of staff, which can result in them seeking stress-related sick leave.

Stress-related absences can also be sought by employees when they receive promotions they don't feel confident in, are navigating challenging work relationships or have gaps in their interpersonal skill sets.

How can I help?

I am trained in several modalities that I can tailor to your employee’s needs. I love to partner with businesses wanting to invest in their staff and reduce stress-related sick leave.

I begin by meeting with your staff member for an assessment session. In this 90-minute session, I go over current, previous and recurring issues. I assess the problem areas and compile a treatment plan with a focused approach to not only returning to work but exiting the ‘sick leave’ cycle. I obtain this by teaching solution-focused, evidence-based approaches that solve any recurring issues. I help your staff learn emotional regulation, and assertiveness skills, addressing avoidant patterns and enforcing work-focused self-care rhythms.
